Message from Brother Rehan Khan, Sunday School Principal

Assalaam Alaikum

The “Love Islam” Sunday school is excited to start off a new school year from October 2011 to May 2012. We are having a another record breaking enrollment as Mash’ Allah 100 plus children from ages 3-16 are registered. We offer nine levels of classes every Sundays from 10:30 AM -1:30 PM. Classes are divided into three 45 minutes periods, with a 30 minute break.

Our youngest scholars, the 3-4 year olds are taught Allah’s names, short duas & Arabic letters.The next level, ages 5-6 years focus on Arabic letters, memorization of surah, Tayamum, Adhan & Salah. Children aged 7-8 years are being taught Quran lessons/Tajweed, Surah Memorization, Islamic Studies & Faith. Our largest class is Level 3 Age 9-11, they are learning Quran lessons/Tajweed, Surah Memorization, Islamic Studies & Faith.

Girls’ youth group is learning characteristics of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),  women in Islamic History, Surah Memorization & Group Activities. Boys youth group is learning the  Islamic Studies,Tafseer, Surah Memorization, Islamic Tahdhib & Akhla & Group Activities.

Also a special class has been added to this school year “Introduction to Islam for newcomers to Islam”. This is  being taught by Br. Abu Nuh and Br. Yasir Sultan, objective for this class to bring newcomers close to Islam and welcome them to our community.

We have made this school year fun for our kids who play soccer, basketball & football and are served snacks, pizza & BBQ  during break time. We have 20 plus dedicated volunteer teachers and supportive staff, without their help there will be no Sunday school.
