Education:

Arkansas Professional Pathway to Educator Licensure (certified for Middle School ELA & Social Studies); Masters in Second Language Studies; Bachelors in International Studies and French

Job Title:

Middle School English Language Arts Teacher Grade 6-8

Teaching Philosophy:

As a first-generation American and educator, I believe diverse backgrounds should be valued, so helping students foster cultural understanding through the texts we read is an important part of my classroom. Literature isn’t meant to be studied in an isolated manner; it is meant to be interpreted and applied according to what is happening in the world around us. In writing, I hope to prepare students for academic success beyond middle school by providing ample opportunities to practice various modes of writing and developing information literacy skills. Additionally, I hope to share my love of continual learning with students through my energetic demeanor, an atmosphere of mutual respect, and a student-centered approach to classroom activities.

 About Me:

I have been teaching for eight years and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I began as an instructor for both international and domestic students at the University of Central Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Courses I have taught include: academic writing, reading, grammar, and public speaking. After receiving my licensure in middle school English and Social Studies, I came to Huda Academy to teach middle school ELA and I haven’t looked back. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, gardening, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my husband and baby boy, Leo.
